Arboricultural Note

Very short on time at the moment but feel a need to acknowledge the value of the recent Urban Tree Management Seminar I attended in Newcastle. The speakers Russell Horsey, Jeremy Barrell and Richard Barnes were all excellent, and the subject matter of each of the presentations distinctly thought-provoking. As someone operating at the sharp end of Trees and Development issues, I’d love to see Jeremy’s concise synthesis of the issues around the Sheffield urban tree disaster turned into something I can add to my assessment toolkit in the field, whether that’s through an augmentation of BS 5837 to include recommendations specific to Urban tree Management, or some entirely new document with similar weight to the BS. Thanks to everyone involved, and to the Arboricultural Association – great stuff.

A beautiful city…
…especially after dark
